Ziggy’s gym review.

What do you expect from a gym, do you have a list of criteria that needs to be met before giving up a membership fee? If not then why the hell not? I recently took a visit to Ziggy’s gym in Rotherham to see what all the fuss was about. Raved about on social media and heard over and over again on the UK’s bodybuilding scene. Ziggys gym was a name that I kept hearing more and more. The journey from my home town to this gym was easier than expected, I have travelled many miles in the past to find the perfect gym to train, so a gym review for me can be anywhere in the region of a 50 mile round trip. Few gyms have met my list of criteria. Am I asking too much, are my standards too high? What does a perfect gym have to offer? First of all if the gym is not reommended to me from other bodybuilders then I will not waste my time travelling . Ziggy’s was recommended to me by many over the years and I really should have made the effort to review this gym earlier. Ziggy’s had opened early hours today to accommodate the review and to allow competitive athletes to train around their needs as they do for many. As I pulled up to the gym doors, the first thing I do is look for parking spaces and to my surprise there is more than enough space for this popular gym that would soon fill up as normal opening hours approached. I was met by two competitive athletes on the UK’s bodybuilding scene, Mick Casey and Tony Ally. Both athletes are sponsored by Ziggy’s Gym and the sponsorship package they receive from the gym is surprisingly generous. Each athlete the gym sponsors, there is quite a list, get free training at the gym, free clothing personalised with their name, supplements at cost price and out of hours use of the facilities ( keys to the gym). That’s quite a deal for any competitive guy or gal and one hell of a way to give back to the UK bodybuilding scene. Ziggy’s currently sponsor and are represented by Mick Stocks, Mick Casey, Juris Skibans, Tony Ally, Tom Cowen, Ash Hall, Jamie Mclaughlan, Joe Clarke, Rich Richardson, and Ronnie Seddon and Mark Powell. This is clearly no ordinary gym and my expectations were already high before I even stepped through the doors. A tour of the gym was first on my agenda, expecting this to take a few minutes and then I could crack on and enjoy my planned routine with Mick and Tony.

The sheer size of the gym was going to prove to be a little more challenging than I had expected, this place is HUGE! Two dumbell areas, its very own separate supplements shop, 2 sports therapists, a tattooist and every machine that you could ever need to get the most out of your workout. What other gym can offer this, you may say that you are aware of gyms in your area that offer you the same or more. Well I wonder if the gym you are thinking of can offer everything else that Ziggy’s can offer, in the form of the athletes who hold memberships at the gym. Few gyms if any can list competitive successful athletes that Ziggy’s can. Some may see competitive athletes as unapproachable and guarded, keeping secrets of growth under their weight belt. Not this gym. Every single member makes you feel welcome and despite my position in the bodybuilding scene, not everyone knew who I was (damn, there goes my ego trip!). I was approached by many when asking questions about the gym and why it has become so popular in recent years.

“I’ve trained at Ziggys workhouse gym for the last five years and have seen it go from strength to strength. They have moved into new premises in order to expand and now have a massive selection of weights and machines. Karl and Shaz the owners have supported me from day one as a bodybuilding competitor and now sponsor a large number of top athletes including, myself, Tony Ally, Mick Stocks, Joe Clarke, Ronnie Sneddon, Juris Skribans, Jamie Maclaughlin, Tom Cowan, Rich Dickerson to name a few. All are welcome at Ziggys regardless of ability and there is a real family atmosphere. Come and take a look, you won’t be disappointed, And also take the opportunity to visit Ziggys well stocked supplement shop which sells a wide variety of protein powders, pre workouts and many more bodybuilding supplements at very low prices.” Mick Casey. “For me Ziggys is a home from home, we’re not only a team but it feels like family. Shaz and Karl provide endless support and encouragement. It’s a good place run by good people. I’m still pretty new to the sport, but nearly a year in, I’m working hard under the guidance of my gym bud Mick Casey who has given me endless time and support, sharing his wealth of experience something I shall forever be grateful for, along with the close support of Mick Stocks. Looking forward to a great year in 2016. Bring it on Team Ziggy.” Tony Ally “I have trained at Ziggy’s since 2011 when I decided to do my first show and was greeted with open arms. I approached Karl and Shaz after hearing such positive things about the gym in which Karl agreed to sponsor me from the first time I met him. I don’t know if he’s just daft or I’m just lucky lol. On a serious note Ziggys is an amazing gym.its clean, great equipment, great members, great atmosphere and more importantly owners that would do anything for anyone. It’s more than a gym for me it’s my home and I owe Karl and Shaz everything.” Mick Stocks.

What was I saying about this gym having everything you need under one roof! Muscle and tats go hand in hand and where best to get inked up than at the House of Ink. With qualified staff with years of experience, the House of Ink offers some of the most desirable artwork around today.

Regular muscular massage therapy is much more than a mere luxury or an extravagance. Rather, it is an investment, an investment in yourself… in your health. Massage should be regarded as part and parcel of your dedication to living a healthy life. Research establishes that regular massage therapy improves range of motion, reduces recovery time, increases muscle tone, and increases flexibility. Once more Ziggy’s gym goes above and beyond at offering its members this facility along with much more.
