Andy, how did you start your body building journey?
I started training at local council gym at the age of 40 after a health scare. I was a 30 a day smoker and after what I began to see my health deteriorate I had a wake up call telling me to get my act together and look after what I had around me. I joined Angels Gym, Mansfield which is where I started to take things seriously. At the age of 52 Andy Lawley approached me and asked if I wanted to enter the LCCBS charity show, watching him train and knowing what he had done and the knowledge he has I said yes and he worked out a diet for me.
What classes did have you entered and how did you do?

What fuels an athlete like you?
Multi sports vitamins and whey protein, pre workout if I’m needing a kick, other than that I think the sport is expensive as it is without adding all sorts of other things that aren’t necessarily needed unless going that extra step.
What does a typical offseason diet consist of?
Off season diet is pretty much the same as prep but more of it, but also eat something enjoyable when I fancy it, keep check of yourself in the mirror and make changes if needed, I have quite a physical job and a good metabolism so I don’t overdo the cardio. I don’t have specific rest days, I listen to my body and rest when I feel tired and sluggish, in the past I’d train even if I felt low and I believe that hinders progress.Last year my eyes were opened to how many quality masters bodybuilders there were on the amateur scene, and I’d love to be amongst them for many years to come.
Who is your favourite bodybuilder?
Favourite bodybuilder, Ronnie Coleman, had everything, although he’s paying for it now.
