As the dust settles once more from The Open Yorkshire Classic I am reminded why I support this event over all others.
Every yr we have been witness to some outstanding physiques with athletes from all over the country attending, many old and new faces onstage and in the audience. The show itself continues to boast the best trophies in the UK and the whole day is an experience that will be etched into the minds of anyone in attendance.
Each judge is a highly recognised athlete in their own right with NABBA Legends like Gary Lister, Maurice Felstead, Steve Johnson, Steve Flynne and Colin Wright to name a few. If you are going to be judged I know for a fact you would prefer to be judged by these guys who have been the same position as you are onstage.
Each and every athlete is looked after throughout the day by the back stage team and the attention to detail is second to none. After ten years of running body building shows the Open Yorkshire has certainly mastered its craft with Jason Matthews and Paul Jeffries at the head of the team ensuring the day runs smoothly.
Two amazing guest spots with Paul Sutton NABBA Mr Universe and Rosie Rascal Harte who lit up the stage with true pro standard physiques and entertainment.
There is no expense spared throughout and with the Lee Archer body building and fitness photographer expert in charge of recording these memories no stone is left unturned.
As the event reaches its tenth yr anniversary we enter into an era where the sport is becoming diluted with show after show. I used to think that this was a good thing and would help display athletes all around the country. I opinion has somewhat changed, after attended many events where the competitors almost out number the audience! It is clear to see why this event has never had the same problem.
The Open Yorkshire continues to pack its venue every yr and the standard just gets better and better.
The whole day was captivating, exciting and full of atmosphere. I amongst others was awarded an award for helping promote the show in a small way as I have over the last ten shows and will continue to do so! I am always very grateful for the recognition and continue to feel like I am being awarded for something that lets face it is more than a pleasure doing. Jason and Paul always make a big effort to look at each and everyone around them and make a point of recognising every single person in attendance! Little things like this are what makes the event one in a million.
Hope to see you all next year, cant wait to see what The Open Yorkshire Classic has planned for next year!
