COMPETING EXPERIENCE.
I competed at the saxon classic 2015 in first timers and placed 2nd. (pics blue trunks).
I went on the compete at the IBFA Britain 2015 tall classic class, knowing chances of me placing were very small but I could see how far out I was next to the top lads and for the experience of competing at the event.
Background, Tell us about yourself and how you got into this crazy world of body building?
I’ve been involved in competing in sports from a very young age. I was involved in martial arts from 5, was one of the youngest black belts in the area by 11 aswell as training with the British squad. From 22 I was in the services where fitness was part of normal life. Throughout my life I had always been VERY skinny. I was tall (6ft) and very slim. I hated how skinny I was and wouldn’t take my top off in front of anyone.
By 28 I was out the services and met a guy who was an old skool bodybuilder.
When chatting he realised I was hugely interested in the gym and changing my body, he asked me if I wanted to start training with him and I jumped at the chance, BUT I said give me a month, I had never been above 9st 12lb (6ft tall) so I set out myself a 9 meal foodplan and ate all the food everyday for a month and added a stone before starting the gym and falling in love with bodybuilding and making progress.
After training for a few years and continuely in search of information and knowledge I passed my Pt exams and started my first Pt company. Knowing this was just the start of the career ladder for me I went on to study, train and qualify in mental performance NLP and also Sports NLP aswell as a strength & conditioning coach.
I now own 2 businesses 1 helping ladies reach their day to day fitness & physique goals and the other is working with athletes amateur through to professional, specialising in combat sports. Ive worked with a number of sports and competitive athletes offering them strength & conditioning, nutrition advice, aswell as mental performance.
After competing in 2015 I’ve unfortunately had a number of injuries that have kept me out of competing again. My focus has been about training around injuries and getting over the injuries that I’ve had. I’m happy to say I’m in a position where I’m looking to compete in the near future.
I don’t really try to think about what others are doing or how they are training, I just try to concentrate on what I’m doing, how I’m training and give each session the most intensity I can.
Off season , who is your go to guy for help?
I’ve got to be honest because I don’t have the best appetite, in the past I haven’t made the most of my off seasons, I’ve been working with Paul Scarborough for some time now where my off-season is just as structured as being in prep but with more food. My cals are the highest I’ve ever had them I’m sitting at the heaviest I’ve been but not too far out of condition. I think if you really want to gain good amounts of mass you need to be willing not to be so sharp but saying that off-season is about gaining muscles not fat.
Off season nutrition?
My standard offseason nutrition is cals are around 5000cals a day diet is keep pretty dam clean and I might have something a little naughtier on a sat evening.
As I said before it’s very structured and I know what I’m eating at what time, I find I function best like this rather than a more IIFYM style food plan. I believe the secret that isnt a secret is consistency. If you consistently eat enough, if you consistently train hard enough and if you consistently rest enough then you will consistently make progress.

Favourite body builder?
I think it would be so hard just to pick one. So many great physiques for so many different reasons.
I compete in classic so
Arnie – not just a great physique but did so much for bodybuilding.
Lee Labrada – such style and such a great poser.
Flex Wheeler – such a great physique big while still holding great shape and not over done.
But also really like the new breed of bodybuilders. Chris Bumstead think he has such a great physique and still so young.
Nathan De Asha – he’s got a great physique very the X-man look and I think he’s a funny guy and keeps it real.
High intensity or low intensity for cardio?
Definitely HIIT for me get it over faster lol.
As a PT what makes you different to all the others?
I think what makes me different is I’m just as interested how my clients minds are working, how they are feeling mentally as much as physically. When you train, exercise and make progress both physically and mentally together the results speak for themselves. I see day in day out where my mental performance help my day to day fitness clients as well as the athletes I work with.
I also love to never stop learning & gaining knowledge so that I’m making personal progress as well as offering my clients a first rate service that’s gets results.
